This page contains an interactive map and a timeline that allow users to view the approximate geographical and chronological contexts of the charters. The circles on the map are coloured differently so the users can differentiate between the charters’ locations. Some charters are associated with more than one location, and each set of circles represent the single or multiple locations for individual charters. Not all charters have a known location and not all locations have been mapped as place names often change over time.

Each set of circles corresponds to a label on the right-hand side of the page and to a date on the timeline located at the bottom of the map. Hover and click over a dot, label, or timeline point to read a detailed description of a charter. The corresponding circles will appear in red.

To navigate through the map, use the up, down, left, and right arrows at the top of the map or click and drag your cursor. To view a historical map, hover over the "Scotia Regnum" label, and to refresh the map, click the “Back to Full Map” button. Click "Go Back" to return to the digital exhibit and go back to the main page.

The base map used for this Neatline page is a Google OpenStreetMap.
