Living Documents: Medieval Charters, Parchment, and Biocodicology

Medieval Scottish charters were mostly written on parchment, a material that is made through a meticulous process using the hides of animals. This material can be studied and analyzed for new information on medieval Scottish economy, society, and animal husbandry.
